Vulgar psoriasis
Until now, psoriasis remains a difficult disease to treat. In most cases, doctors diagnose psoriasis vulgaris vulgaris. It is characterized by the appearance on the skin of flat pinkish-red papules with a clear border and rounded outlines, which merge into plaques. When scraped, you can see silvery white scales that cover the surface of the affected area of the skin.
The rashes may not always be the same size. They range from a few millimeters to several centimeters. A distinctive feature from other dermatological diseases is that the manifestations of the disease can regress for several weeks, months and even years. The most susceptible to disease are areas of the body such as elbows, knees, buttocks, scalp, areas of local skin injury.
Stages of the disease
Psoriasis vulgaris has three stages of development.
The stage is progressive. New rashes with papules appear on the skin, which increase in size around existing lesions. An erythematous-edematous border is noted around them. In the acute phase, psoriasis vulgaris can occur with sunburn, minor injuries, places subject to frequent rubbing, injections, scratches, etc.
The patient should treat his skin as carefully as possible. In no case do not use hard washcloths, do not wipe off with a coarse towel, do not comb damaged areas. Bathing and prolonged exposure to the sun should also be reduced.
The stage is stationary. Peripheral healing of papules is observed. The lesions are covered with scaly crusts. Burning sensation decreases, itching decreases.
The stage is regressive. At this stage, the signs of rashes disappear, peeling of the skin decreases, a whitish border appears around the plaques. Despite the gradual improvement and disappearing symptoms, the disease can worsen at any time.
Causes of the disease
Until now, there is no single hypothesis about the occurrence of the disease, which could thoroughly reveal the essence of its appearance. Therefore, it is generally accepted that psoriasis vulgaris is a manifestation of multifactorial chronic dermatosis. In medical practice, there are several theories that to some extent reveal the causes of the disease:
– hereditary. It is transmitted by an auto- dominant trait. The incidence of diseases ranges from 2-6 generations;
– exchange. There is a violation of metabolism in the body, some enzymes and DNA with RNA;
– neurogenic. According to research theories, it is believed that illness can occur as a result of severe psychological trauma or severe nervous breakdown;
– endocrine. In people suffering from this disease, changes in the pituitary-adrenal system and the functions of the gonads are often detected.
In addition, there are many more factors that provoke the onset and further development of the disease: skin trauma, diabetes mellitus, some drugs, atherosclerosis, etc.
Psoriasis can be attributed not only to skin diseases, but also to pathological changes in the body as a whole. Therefore, if it is treated locally, it is a waste of time and money. Treatment should be comprehensive and aimed at improving the body as a whole.
Despite the progress of medical science, today there is still no drug that would cure psoriasis completely. In most cases, psoriasis vulgaris is treated with several combination drugs, both topical and oral. The doctor selects medicines individually and depending on the stage in which the form of the disease is. Basically, therapy is aimed at reducing infection of the skin and improving the general condition of the body: sedatives, vitamin therapy, debridement of foci, the appointment of antioxidants, various antibacterial ointments, cystostatic drugs and much more.
