Psoriasis diet – treatment and beauty

Psoriasis (translated from Greek – painful skin, scabs) is a chronic skin disease, widespread since ancient times, which is characterized by flaky skin formations in the form of rounded plaques. A diet for people suffering from this disease, namely a special psoriasis diet, is designed to regulate the alkaline-acid balance in the human body. It should be remembered that in percentage terms, alkaline reactions in psoriasis should be much greater (70%) than acidic (30%). This state of affairs directly depends both on the food eaten and on the general state of human health, the normal functioning of all internal organs, and the positive emotional background of a person. But the main thing is not to forget that the daily diet should contain at least about 80% of the foods that lead to the formation of alkali.

There are no special diets for people with skin rashes, but it became possible to generalize the experience of numerous patients, on the basis of which several main “theses” can be distinguished. As stated earlier, the psoriasis diet involves eating two main types of foods. Let’s consider them.

Alkali-forming products

Firstly, these are vegetables. You need to eat more: asparagus, beets, olives, courgettes and garlic. Consume in small doses – cabbage, beans, pumpkin. Exclude altogether: potatoes, eggplants, tomatoes. Particular preference is given to fresh or frozen vegetables, and canned foods are occasionally allowed.

Secondly, there are fruits. For psoriasis it is recommended to consume: citrus fruits, bananas, melons, apples and their juices, mangoes, papaya, nectarine, raisins, prunes and peaches. Do not: berries, plums, avocados, mixing citrus juices with products containing milk.

In addition, you can increase the alkali content in the body using the following products:

Grape juice, apricot, pineapple, pear and apple

Stewed or fresh vegetables, fruits

Lecithin supplement in food or drink

Regular exercise and physical activity

· Attitude to the positive and the absence of negative emotions

· Drinking alkaline min. water (“Essentuki”, “Borjomi”)

Foods that contribute to the formation of an acidic environment in the gastrointestinal tract include substances high in protein, starch, sugar, fats (meat products, cheese, legumes, sugar). The combination of these products in large quantities creates the formation of acid in the body, which leads to a worsening of the conditions of patients with psoriasis.

Be careful!

With any psoriasis diet, you should try to exclude the following food combinations and individual foods:

Combining starch and sweets, protein and legumes, meat or fatty foods with sucrose in one dish or in a single meal

·Vinegar

Any products with dyes, synthetic additives or GMOs

Products containing alcohol

Drug abuse and haphazard use

Negative emotional state

It should also be remembered that with psoriasis, you cannot combine whole grain foods (cereals, breads) with juice, fresh fruits or cooked fruits and vegetables, do not combine juices or citrus fruits with milk, cheese or yogurt, do not combine fresh apples, watermelons with anything , melons. In addition, it is strongly not recommended to add cream or milk to hot drinks (tea, coffee), from alcohol, you can occasionally drink about 60-110 grams of white or red wine, in case of exacerbations, you should temporarily stop using salt and its substitutes. But the most important thing to remember is that the main enemy of psoriasis treatment is overeating.

Psoriasis is considered one of the oldest diseases known to man. But for thousands of years, science has not yet identified a common opinion about the causes and course of psoriasis. One thing is for sure – the dietary factor can significantly help control the development of psoriasis. It should be remembered that the organization of dietary nutrition for those suffering from psoriasis should be purely individual, taking into account all the signs of the disease, concomitant pathologies, allergic reactions and “pests” products.
